Homegrown is 10 years old this month!!!
The biggest and longest running drum & bass event in South Africa. The first Homegrown took place in September 2000. 500 Mills & Animal Chin's idea behind Homegrown is to expose and develop the sound of South African drum & bass by giving local producers the platform to showcase their tunes. Almost 100 parties later and the night is going stronger than ever. Homegrown happens every first Saturday of the month at Mercury Live, 43 De Villiers, Cape Town. |

COUNTERSTRIKE, also known as Animal Chin and 500 Mills, have been active drum 'n bass DJ's/producers since the mid Nineties. Collectively producing since 1998, they've had over 40 12" vinyl releases on various labels such as Rob Playford's Moving Shadow, Dieselboy's Human and Dylan's Obscene.
Algorythm Recordings, their own imprint, was launched in 2000 and include releases from artists such as Current Value, Limewax, SPL, T.Z.A, The Panacea and Donny. Apart from their busy production schedule they still find the time to regularly perform in Europe and the USA. 2009 saw them DJ in 17 countries.
